GRUB-ing in the park

we took a special trip down to GRUB, right smack in the middle of Bishan Park. i have heard good reviews about this restaurant for the longest time since it was opened in May and i have been dying to try it out. one of the things that drew me to want to try this place out is because they are known for using quality ingredients. the use fresh produce. they dont give u powdered mash potato and u can be assured of the quality of food they serve. feel free to check out their website to learn more about the type of ingredients they use too.

one thing is that they dont take any reservations. but i guess it is understandable because the place isnt that huge also. when we were there on a Saturday night, we had to wait about 15 mins for a table, but also because we knew one of the staff there ^^. at times, you have to be expected to wait till up to 45 mins. they serve dinner on weekdays and open for brunch on weekends and public holidays. make sure to go early to avoid long queues (:

i love the interior of the place with the dangling lights(:

i was initially hesitant to order the fries. but WOW. we were blown away by it. Aioli Fries ($5) i loved that the fries were served hot and fluffy and went perfect with the dipping sauce. my only gripe is that we wanted MORE. hahha.

Truffled Eggs Cocotte ($7) baked eggs served with toasted focaccia bread. i love baked eggs. it was simple but still delish nontheless, it was recommended as a popular appetizer

Pan-Seared King Salmon with risotto ($15) i love salmon. but this aint no ordinary salmon. crispy skin on the outside, and soft, slightly pink on the inside. it was delish. and the salmon was of a decent portion too (:

we also ordered the Slow Roasted Pork Belly with mango sauce, mash potatoes and tomato salsa ($15) i thought it was pretty good too. crispy pork skin and tasty amazing pork belly. haha. what’s not to love? the meat was well marinated and i enjoyed the risotto.

they also served a wide variety of beers at $10 a bottle. im sure it is a hit with beer lovers. we passed on dessert, but i know they are famous for their homemade churros and waffles. hehehe. i would definitely go back for more. i would love to try their famous burgers and even food items from their brunch menu which i heard are a hit too (:

also, the restaurant is pet friendly and they allow pets at their outdoor seating area. maybe i can bring Bandon and Rusty there someday. haha.

it was nice change to dine in the middle of the park. it was beautiful at night and i think more so in the day. give it a shot!
