hi everyone, im back from my short holiday vacation with my family to Hoian. it was prolly one of the best and most relaxing holidays i’ve had. we went there to just do nothing and some light shopping
the focus of this post would be the amazing THE NAM HAI which was and prolly is my fav hotel/villa of all time hands down!
we took the silkair flight direct to the Town of Danang. and Hoian is about 30 mins drive from the airport. we arrived in the late afternoon to a rather gloomy town. that was expected cos it’s the monsoon season.
we were picked up by our private driver who offered us cold towels to freshen up and cold bottled water. coupled with free wi-fi in the van, we knew we were in for an amazing trip. and sure enough we were!
once we arrived, we were greeted by the hotel’s manager as well as our private butler for the length of our stay. we were then transported by buggy to our private villa where paradise awaits… we were first ushers into the living room which was massive?!?!?! like bigger than some 4 room flat. lol. there were plenty of lounge areas. perfect for couch potatoes like me.
there was also no need to check in at the reception cos you do your check-in in your villa itself. hehe. our butler was lovely tho. very polite and non-intrusive.
we then headed for dinner at My Hanh seafood resturant which is located Danang. this was recommended by our driver. that place is quite popular with locals.
morning glory a.k.a kang kong. haha.
massive prawns steamed with garlic
after dinner, our driver picked us up again and gave us a short tour of Danang town. since our hotel was in Hoian, it was a good opportunity to have a short city tour of the town.
woke up bright and early to a rather gloomy sunrise again. we kinda succumbed to the fact that the rest of the trip was gnna be gloomy and toyed with the idea that we were probably not going to enjoy the poolssssss. sob sob.
i went for the free yoga class offered by the hotel. it was quite interesting and a good workout to start the day! it wasnt easy tho. cos i am not flexible. haha. but doing yoga in the peace and quiet in the amazing property (facing the main pools) was a really amazing feeling.
i then joined my family for breakfast which was DAMN GOOD. some of the dishes are served on-demand. meaning u order the dishes and they prepare it on the spot. like eggs, pho, cao lao (hoi an speciality). all freshly made on the spot. they also served a myraid of juices, fruits, cereals.
the service there is top notch. our server even chatted with us and we found out she was adopted by an american family who sent her to singapore to study and learn english. amazing. the staff there also remember your requests who proved to be very impressive during our breakfasts over the next three days.
our private beach front villa. it was literally BY THE BEACH. my words cannot sufficiently describe the awesomeness and serenity of the place. there were barely anyone on the beach save for some local fishermen.
we then headed to the poolside once the rain stopped to get as much chance of the pools as we could. it was really quite cold due to the sea breeze too. haha. but nothing was stopping me from getting into the amazing infinity pools.
we arranged for a trip to go into the ancient town of Hoi an. which to me, though touristy, had a charm of it’s own with its quaint shops selling souvenirs, tailors and shoe shops. admist all the touristy shops, there were also many quaint cafes, pushcarts selling local eats and plenty of vietnamese restaurants ready to cater to tourists at affordable prices. the heart of the ancient city caters to mainly tourists with much better designed (and cleaner) eateries.
however, if u wander further off the main streets, u would find more local shops and eateries.
one of the rare photos of me. cos my sister was not too keen on taking photos of me.lol.
the hotel reception by night. which was gorgeously lit up. the hotel area is rather dimly lit to give off the private and romantic feel. but may not be suitable for people with night blindness cos it is really quite dark and u need to watch your footing cos there are quite alot of steps too.
waiting for our transport to bring us to dinner.
we had dinner at Madame Lan’s in Danang. which was also recommended by our driver. the food there is pretty good. but also, at tourist prices. but u will have a peace of mind as the place is clean and well maintained. you would not be disappointed even though our server wasnt too fluent in english and we had some problems communicating our orders to her. haha.
i have yet to post pictures of the amazing room haha. hopefully in the next post! stay tuned!!!!
