Finally an update! and a travel one at that. haha! i love writing travel posts as it allows me to relieve the experiences through my subpar writing. haha. but still, hope this post will help any of you who may be traveling to the Land of Smiles soon
we arrived at 12:30am and took the USD$60 limo to the apartment because it fit all of us and our bags. it was a very comfortable ride!
Welcome drinks? haha. i didnt have any though. this had gold flakes innit.
first bangkok meal the next morning. haha. had breakfast near the local street near our airbnb apartment. ordered in broken english.
So simple but so satisfying. This bowl of pork noodles really hit the spot. Eating along the roadside and sweating like mad with the hot weather? Check.
Random Basil Pork Rice
we had the famous boat noodles near Victory Monument Centre before heading to the Chatuchak weekend market. the noodles were really good. the girls had about 5 bowls each. while the boys had about 8 bowls each. Each bowl cost 12 Baht (S$0.48). There you can choose either pork, beef or some sour dry noodle. I enjoyed the pork and beef bowls. you can also choose whatever type of noodle you like. Tasted really good with the chilli powder. Gives it a good kick.
The broth is super flavourful. Wishing for some right now.
No other photo inside Chatuchak because it was so sweltering hot that one hand was used to fan myself. and the other holding the shopping we had. hahaha. coconut ice cream to beat the heat. but it was rather substandard. the one from the other stall near the clock tower is much better imo. but still, anything cold on a hot day is always appreciated.
after Chatuchak, we visted Rot Fai Night Market, which i will blog about in another post. That place was a real treasure.
Day 2 at Platinum! In other words, shopping heaven.
3 girls worth of shopping in about 4 hours. haha.
lots of goodies inside 😀
Snapchatting outside the toilet. haha.
we then headed for a much needed massage after combing the 5 floors of platinum mall at the usual place opposite Pantip Plaza. i dont normally spend on massage in Singapore because i cant justify the price. but here, i always get massages. $10 for 1hr of pure relaxation. haha.
after that we proceeded to Siam area for dinner at Som Boon Seafood. We went to the very new Siam Square One, where many of the cafes and japanese restaurants are. the mall is HUGE.
The Hello Kitty Cafe is here too.
The Famous Curry Crab at Som Boon Seafood. they have about 7 outlets but this one is quite convenient as the mall is linked directed from Siam BTS station. the restaurant is also very fancy for Bangkok standards. we ordered a bunch of dishes and they were all good. i especially like the prawn/crayfish vermicelli (tang hoon) it was very flavourful and peppery.
the curry crab was something different. the gravy goes excellent with white rice. i expected abit more flavour though. we also ordered the oyster omelette which was packed full of flavour and they were very generous with the oysters too.
It costed us about S$15/pax for 7 people. Very value for money. We ordered two Medium servings of Curry crab and a whole lot of dishes.
We went to a cafe at the same mall. Will blog about all the cafes we visited in a separate post.
Took the BTS/BRT home.
after getting back home, the girls 2 girls then paraded their shopping hahaha.
Bridge at Chong Nongsi Station. I believe this is the CBD Area. Where you can connect to the BRT, which is the bus service.
It was a very fruitful trip and i enjoyed myself thoroughly. Thank God that He kept us safe throughout. will talk more in the next post!
hello, i’m going to blog about the time i spent in L.A. i spent 6 weeks doing Summer School in UCLA last summer.
doesnt the campus look so beautiful? well, that is compared to Singapore’s NTU. lol. but i was blown away by the spacious campus and the well groomed bushes and grass. it looked more like a park than a university for me. hahaha.
the beautiful library that i never got to fully utilise to study at. but i visited the library on the last day of school just to take some photos. look at the nice ceiling? haha. far cry from Lee Wee Nam library. haha. sorry for comparing, but it is what it is. lol.
this was our living room area in our apartment. we had a spacious living room area with two sofas. but we used one of the sofas as an extra bed for joy. the apartment was cleaned out before we moved in so everything was nice and clean.the girl’s room. this was the first night when we got there. so we havent bought any bed sheets or pillows.the bathroom. the girls got to have the room that had a bathroom connected to it. which was nice of the guy to offer the room to us. our kitchen/dining room area. the dining room table can only sit 4 people so we usually eat in the living room on the floor when we have more people.we had a well equipped kitchen. but there wernt any pots or pan so we had to buy everythingfirst dinner with new friends!
i believe this was the first day of school. haha.
one of our movie nights. haha. we have a cinema within walking distance from our place so we headed there twice for a movie during our stay. haha. it’s quite interesting for me because each cinema only screens ONE movie for a duration. unlike in Singapore where there are a series of movies we can choose from to watch. haha.i loved the weather there! so sunny but yet no humidity! it was pretty cooling and on somedays we actually lay on the grass and took naps. it was so amazing and fun. lol. cant do that in singapore. hahaha.
our first homecooked dinner at home. we bought roasted chicken from Ralph’s and made spaghetti with cream sauce using canned mushroom soup. haha.
i like to call these pancake mornings. haha. weida made pancakes for us one morning for breakfast and they were awesome! and the amazing scrambled eggs. so goooood. loved eating the pancakes with nutella. bomb.
second day in school at a class.at one of the canteens for lunch in the sunlook our their legs. hahaha. all so muscular and tan.lol.Joy and I on the 4th of july when we went to see fireworks!we had such an amazing time. will update more next!
